Robert Rauschenberg "Note on Painting" 1963

  1. I love it when artists don't take themselves too seriously-but at the same time, Rauschenberg completely defends his practice and product by writing like this. Collage, objects poking out of the canvas, what have you-it's all wrapped up in this witty, "unjustifiable" note!
